Peony - a sign of wealth, happiness, peace and elegance
Peony flower belongs to the deciduous shrub of the genus Paeonia. It is a national flower of China. In the history, Peony flower was always growing in more wealthy dynasties, so it is a sign of wealth, happiness, peace and elegance. Every year, ancient Chinese held a grand festival for peony flower. There were many activities such as drawing for Peony flower, embroidering for Peony flower, and singing for Peony flower. There is a phrase called “If a country is wealthy, flowers will grow better.” Therefore, Peony flower is more like a culture rather than a flower in most regions in China.
Peony flower is not only used in cultural activities, but also used in medicine. Starting from Qin and Han dynasties (In 220 A.D.), ancient Chinese wrote peony flower in “Shennong Classic of Materia Medica” as a medicine.
