Extraction Process of Peony Seed Oil:
1. Squeezing Method
The oil squeeze is a common equipment, especially those with high oil content. Its process route is listed as follows:
Peony seed → impurity removal → drying → grading → shelling → seed kernel → (color selection) → tempering → iron removal → squeezing → filtration → degumming → deacidification → washing → decolorization → deodorization → filling
Advantages: low one-time investment; simple process;
Disadvantages: the residual oil in the cake is too high (≥ 6%), resulting in waste of oil products and high production cost; the spiral oil squeeze may lead to high temperature, reduce the denaturation utilization rate of the cake protein, and may produce benzopyrene carcinogens.
2. Low temperature (subcritical fluid) extraction
The technology has been successfully applied to the extraction of pigment (lutein, paprika red pigment), precious oil (grape seed oil, wheat germ oil, walnut oil, etc.), microalgae oil (DHA, ARA, etc.), which can perfectly protect its effective components and active substances from damage and denaturation.
